Our Family of Jack Russell Terriers

"Two Bits"

She was a major love in our life. They say a large percentage of JRT's get ran over in the street because

of the nature of JRT's.  They get going and don't stop.

We were graced with "Two Bits" for eight years.  She knew not to get past the drive way.

But being in season, she had her first visitor come by that was about her size, and she liked him.

So she took off playing and it wasn't long before she was hit in the road.

I think our life stood still.

BUT, on the brighter side, after we quit crying, we ended up getting three JRT pups.

It wasn't planned that way, but filling the empty place "Two Bits" left in our heart, THREE JRT's will probably work.

Our memories of "Two Bits"

Always smiling and always ready.

She was always within feet of where I was

I didn't go from one room to another without her by my side

She really wasn't a photo HAM

Normally, when I had the camera ready, she'd turn her back. Taking pictures wasn't easy.

Her and "Sissy" were best of friends

Even when they were older, they played together a lot

Visiting an old friend of mine

She took on the neighbors dog. I think she thought she was as big as he was.

It was her first experience with a large dog

and she seemed to think it was necessary for her to bark

But the big dog had a bigger bark

So she took off.

Always going to the highest place

For a birds eye view of things

She was as gentle as a lamb.

Not many JRT's will do this without thinking about lunch

"Chiggar" fell out of a nest

We kept the squirrel for a year then let it go in the yard

But they became good friends

It was amazing to see her play with a little squirrel without hurting it.

There were times later, that they actually slept together

Whenever "Chiggar" was awake

"Two Bits" was there and ready

Five to six days a week

As I set at the desk working, she was right there next to my desk.

Her favorite place was on the boat

She would practically strip the fish scales off every fish that was caught. Later, she learned to pick them up and drop them in the ice chest

When we thew the net out to catch bait fish

She would scream, wanting some action

The aligator gar messed up our net

But "Two Bits" had the most fun

That's a quarter on her collar

A pigeon racing/fishing buddy of mine offered to give her to me. I flipped him a quarter and told him I'm naming her "Two Bits". My wife nicknamed her "Bitsy"

She had a litter and we almost kept them all

They were hard to let go of

But we did finally let them go

We kept them til they were 10 weeks old.

We almost had them house broke

She regained her figure

And was happy again

Always ready to go get it

Never hesitating or resisting the chase

Our suggestion........

Don't get a Jack Russell if your trying not to fall in love
