How to Cut Beveled Mirror Strips

We have accumulated more than 40 years of experience

and continually find out that we wake up to a new morning every day.

We know that someone is always better and

we stake no claim on "Knowing it All".

But...we do feel there is a need for some people to ask some one else

about what is possible with glass and how to handle it.

Trying to prevent anyone from being hurt or cut by glass is our hope,

and we offer what we know to those who might need to know it.

  • If you are starting a new craft idea with glass or mirror

  • If you have become a weekend "HoneyDo-er"

  • If you have acquired glass you want to use somehow...and don't know how

  • Or you just want to fix your own broken widow

SOME DO's

If at first you don't succeed...call us.

Do Be Careful while handling glass, especially raw cut glass...use gloves if possible

Set large sheets down on soft pads or wood...not concrete or steel

Watch your corners while carrying glass...corners are most vulnerable

Using clips to hang a big mirror on a wall is good...but gluing it also is even better

Install tempered glass in any entrance way

Fix your leaking or foggy insulated windows for better yield on your utility bills

Wash windows in the shade or at night...bright sunshine means more elbow grease

Handle with extra care when glass is wet...even blood will make it slip in your grip

SOME DON'Ts

Don't set glass down on concrete or metal

Don't handle glass with live runners in it

(the cracks made in the glass travel at speeds up to 3,000 mph)

Don't scribe glass with cutter more than once ...it destroys your cutter

(if it skips, just scribe it again where the skip is)

Don't even attempt to cut Tempered Safety Glass...it will not happen

Don't cut mirrors from the back side

Don't try to catch broken glass while it's falling...professionals run

Don't replace entire window when your insulated glass fogs up...

                                                                                glass replacement is cheaper

Don't leave masking tape (almost all tape) very long on glass...it stains

Don't throw glass...it may bite you as it leaves your hand

Don't lean on any glass wall in storefronts and malls...may not be as safe as you think

Don't push glass doors open on the glass...use push bar or handle
