Frameless Shower Glass:
A “Frameless Shower Enclosure” is just what it sounds like, no frame, glass to glass, mounted with either a channel or with clamps. They begin with 3/8″ glass thickness and can be 1/2″ glass. All glass is tempered safety glass according to Federal Regulations for Safety.
The “Heavy Glass” can come in a variety of different patterns or textures, but the clear glass is the easiest to keep clean according to many of our customers. Available also is the low maintenance ”ShowerGuard® Glass” which has been ionized treated to resist pitting. Made by Guardian Glass and carries a ten year warranty that it will not pit.
Some Frameless Shower Units will need a “Header” in place to help support the doors that swing both in and out. This will always depend on the Style of Shower and the available room allowed for glass. The “Header” and other “Hardware” comes in Chrome, Gold, Brushed Nickel, Oil Rubbed Bronze and some custom colors.
Notice picture to the right has the Oil Rubbed Bronze Header and installed with clips that you see on the left by the tub.
Some installs have been with “Channel” like this picture on the left. The options have arisen by the use of studs in the wall or what contractor put in the poney wall. The basic option is totally up to the beholder and how they want their shower to look. Using the channel could save as much as $150.00, pending on the complete shower details.
We have found that over time, the channel had been handy for those customers changing out their tile or marble and re-using the glass because it was not knotched out for the clamps. That does not always fit the ticket for change out, but it has happened.
Give us a call and we can give you a quote on the phone. If our price is in your budget we will send someone to your house to measure for exact sizes on your shower. Each one is cut into the opening because there are no two shower exactly alike. Once we have measured it takes approximately eight working days to process the glass and make ready for installation.
